Qira’atul Qur’an Competition (QQC)


The Qira’atul Qur’an Competition (QQC) is an annual competition hosted by the McMaster MSA. MashAllah, now running in it’s thirteenth year, the competition brings together our brothers and sisters from various universities for the common purpose of glorifying the words of Allah (Aza wa Jal) in the Noble Quran.

This year the YorkMSA will be competing! The prize for placing first in the competition is $1,500, awarded to the winning MSA.

Participation detials:

The YorkMSA is happy to announce that we have gotten two brothers and two sisters to represent the YorkMSA team!!!!

Alhumdullilah, we got a lot of people eager to participate so it was very easy for us to find people. So, it became a first come, first serve thing.

We want to thank all of those who messaged us willing to represent YorkMSA at th QQC. May Allah grant you success in this life and in the here after (Ameen).

Competition Setup:

Initial Round: Each participant will be asked to recite a passage from Surah Taa-ha. Each participant should be prepared to recite any part of the above mentioned Surah.

Final Round: There will be two teams left to compete for the title of QQC champion. Finalists will be allowed to recite any passage from the Qur’an That they feel would best illustrate their talent.

FAQs

Q: Would I have to memorize the entire Surah?
A: It is expected but not a requirement for the participants to have the entire Surah memorized. Memorization is a bonus when scoring points. Participants will be allowed to recite using the Mus’haf but will lose points.

Q: What is the judging gonna be like?
A: The entire judging criteria and expectations will be made more clear after in January, when the Board and Exec gets to meet the judges, Inshaa Allah.
