Last day to become a paid member ($10) and have the ability to vote: Friday March 25th
Nomination period ends: Saturday March 26th
Voting: Friday April 1st to Friday April 8th 11:59 AM
New execs announced: Friday April 8th after Jum’ah
Election period is officially underway. If you’d like to try your hand at being an Executive Member for the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA) at York University Keele Campus, or you think you know someone who would be good for the job (even if it’s a current Executive Member), please e-mail the position being nominated for, name, and e-mail of the person you are nominating (even if it is yourself) to the Outgoing Elections Team (OET) who are responsible for administrating the Elections at [email protected]. The person being nominated must be both currently a York student, as well as a paid member, and the person nominating must likewise be a York student and either a paid or unpaid MSA member to count. The nomination period ends Saturday, March 26 after which no more nominations will be accepted and those who have been nominated will be informed of the position(s) they have been nominated for and asked whether they accept their nomination or not; in case a person is nominated for more than one position, they must only accept one to run for.
Executive Positions
The positions up for nomination are as follows:
- President,
- Brothers’ Vice President,
- Sisters’ Vice President,
- Treasurer,
- Two Brothers’ Public Relations,
- Two Sisters’ Public Relations,
- Secretary,
- GTA Representative.
Also please note that the last day to become a paid MSA member, and thereby have the ability to vote, is also Friday March 25. As per constitutional requirements, campaigning of any kind is strictly prohibited and therefore if any candidate is found to be campaigning on behalf of himself or others, then they will be disqualified to run. If any clarification is needed, or you have any questions in general about the Election process, please direct them to the OET.
Voting will take place in April 1-8. Friday, April 8th at 11:59 AM will the the last day to vote after which the Executive Members for the 2011-12 school year will be announced after Jumu’ah prayer and take office starting May 1, in shâ Allâh.
